LYONS Tea has been fuelling conversations in Ireland for generations. For many Irish people it’s a refreshing taste of home. And because LYONS know how well tea and talking go together, they work with an Irish mental health services charity to help end the stigma often associated with mental health issues.
LYONS tea

LYONS’ story
In 1902 the Lyons family started a tea business in the heart of Dublin using only the best quality tea leaves. By the 1960s they’d expanded into a state-of-the-art factory where they produced the very first on-pack promotion – a voucher for between 10 shillings and £10. Always keen to innovate, LYONS changed their teabags from square to round in the late 1970s, to let the leaves infuse more effectively. The switch was so successful that LYONS captured over 65% of the Irish tea market. In 2004 the bags changed shape again, bringing the pyramid bag to all LYONS products. Nowadays LYONS is working with the Rainforest Alliance to make sure every cup of quality tea is a step towards a better life for tea farmers, and the environment.
LYONS’ products
LYONS Original is probably the most well known of their teas, having been a signature blend since it started in the early 20th century. They’ve since added Gold and Decaf blends to the range. All LYONS teabags are 100% biodegradable now, too.
LYONS’ purpose
LYONS Tea has been at the centre of conversation in Irish households for generations. At LYONS, there’s a deep understanding that many a problem has been shared – and sorted out – over a cup of tea and a chat. That’s why LYONS’ purpose is centred around helping people stay in good mental health – and expressed through the phrase Now we’re talking.
